The Campaign to Decriminalize Nature DC is Hiring!

The Campaign to Decriminalize Nature DC expects to receive its circulating petitions from the DC Board of Elections in March and we are going to need your help to put this voter initiative on the November ballot.

We expect to have about 100 days to collect 30,000 valid signatures from registered DC voters. We are looking for at least 100 volunteer & paid petition circulators.

The current pay rate is $3.00 per valid signature and the pay is weekly. This is a temporary contract job, not an hourly job. You will be paid for *only* valid signatures from registered DC voters.

Volunteer petition circulators will help save the campaign money. For every valid signature a volunteer collects, we need to spend less on paid petitioners. Please consider volunteering!

Paid or volunteer, we’d need you attend at least one training as soon as possible (sign up below) and be able to come to the Campaign office when the petitions are ready.

At this time we are not offering housing for out of state petitioners, but we are offering transportation within DC, via prepaid SmartTrip Metro cards, for full time petitioners.

If you are interested in getting hired, please sign up for a training slot on our Google Form below!

PETITIONER HIRING PROCESS FOR DC RESIDENTS:

1) Sign up for a Campaign to Decriminalize Nature DC Petitioner Training (See Form Below — This is required, even if you have petitioned in DC before!)
2) Bring your District of Columbia ID. The campaign will photocopy your ID and keep this in your file.
3) Fill Out a W-9 if you want to be paid by the Campaign. This is not required for Volunteers.
4) Read and Sign Petitioner Policies and Procedures – The Campaign will keep one copy and you will keep your own copy.
5) When the circulating petitions are ready, come to Campaign office to pick up petitions, clipboard, pens, etc. and hit the streets.
6) Return petitions by Monday each week to get paid for valid signatures the following Monday.

PETITIONER HIRING PROCESS FOR NON-DC RESIDENTS:

1) Sign up for a Campaign to Decriminalize Nature DC Petitioner Training (See Form Below — This is required, even if you have petitioned in DC before!)
2) Bring your government issued ID and your “Out of State” Petition Circulator Form that has been stamped at the DC Board of Elections (1015 Half St. SE, Suite 750 – One block from the Navy Yard Metro Station). The campaign will photocopy your drivers license and keep this in your file. Prior to being hired YOU MUST go to the DC Board of Elections and fill out a “Out of State” Petition Circulator Form. No exceptions! The campaign will keep this stamped form in your file.
3) Fill Out a W-9 if you want to be paid by the Campaign. This is not required for Volunteers.
4) Read and Sign Petitioner Policies and Procedures – The Campaign will keep one copy and you will keep your own copy.
5) When the circulating petitions are ready, you will receive an email from the Campaign and we’ll need you to come to Campaign office to pick up petitions, clipboard, pens, etc. and hit the streets
6) Return petitions by Monday each week to get paid for valid signatures the following week

If you live in Washington, DC, but do not have a DC ID, you will still need to go to the DC Board of Elections and register as an “Out of State” Petition Circulator. If you live in Maryland, Virginia, or any other jurisdiction that is not the District of Columbia, you will need to register as an “Out of State” Petition Circulator. Any signatures collected before you register with the DC Board of Elections are invalid, so the Campaign requires every non-DC resident petitioner to register with the DC Board of Elections first.
